How does coaching differ from therapy? I believe from the bottom of my heart that therapy is incredibly valuable and won’t hesitate to recommend it in many circumstance. That being said, if you are looking to grow and reach goals in health, family, fitness, life or business then coaching may be a better fit for your needs. You can even do both! They can support each other depending on your goals and journey. If you are looking for self awareness and purpose coaching is a great fit.
In very basic terms therapy sessions may not always follow a specific path and can be guided by a client’s mood and feelings that day. Therapy may focus more on your past and how to heal from it. Life coaching sessions are directive and focused on growth. I ask you to fill out questionnaires and complete homework ahead of time to identify your goals and obstacles so we can have power packed sessions and maximize your time. I am a friendly ear for you while also respecting your time and pushing you to take the steps to your future life.
You will have homework in the form of steps we decide on to reach your goals!
What is the difference between a life coach and a therapist?
A large difference is certifications and licenses that a therapist holds versus the type of training a life coach has. A therapist often helps you understand your past experiences to manage and improve on yourself in the present. They handle mental health concerns, past traumas and how life affects an individual and how to handle it and improve. It can be a deep dive to self improvement and understanding. Incredibly valuable in my opinion for anyone to deeply understand yourself and be your best. On the other hand, if you want help moving towards a future you desire by overcoming obstacles and working on goals, a life coach might be what you need.
A LIFE COACH looks at the HERE AND NOW to help you create the future you desire. I like to think of it as therapy being insight based and life coaching as being action based. I want to help you smash your goals. If you need a friendly ear, help overcoming obstacles, assistance creating the right steps to reach goals, help motivating yourself, and hitting all those goals this is for you!
You still do the heaving lifting but I am here to guide you through it and we focus hard on action. If you want to take strides towards your goals in your life I am here to help. I want to help you go from where you are to where you want to be.
